Internships can be a very rewarding way to gain valuable career experience within your desired sector.  We asked two of our current interns; a designer and a marketer, to tell us a little about their experience at Brandshare after a couple months of starting their internships.

Georgie Evans – Graphic Designer

During my time at Brandshare I’ve gained valuable experience in design skills, but it has also helped me gain confidence in people skills and confidence in my ability to overcome challenges independently. The wide variety of design work I have accomplished so far has ranged from advert design, magazine layout, typography and social media design to trade stand designing, logo designing and app/web design.

Although magazine layout design is my speciality and passion, working on a wide range of other projects has expanded my knowledge of design and given me an insight into the workings of a business from design to print. Working on magazine spreads has opened my eyes to what goes on behind the scenes and what goes into creating it, the detail and precision that is needed for the spreads to have continuity, and the best way to edit and layout photography and body. It is rewarding and exciting to see the final spread printed in the magazine and gives me a sense of achievement when I see my own work published.

Working on projects for clients has given me an interesting point of view on the timeline from sale to production. Working with big companies has given me an idea of how much work goes into getting something just right. But has been rewarding when seeing my advert designs in print form. Print days are exciting and full on, with many tasks being achieved quickly and efficiently. Every day brings a new challenge, and it is exciting to overcome them.

So far it has been a pleasure working for Brandshare and I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Muge Ercis – Marketing

I started at Brandshare a couple a months ago and have gained invaluable experience in such a short period of time. During my time so far, I have been scheduling social media posts across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for PurrfectlyYappy and Brandshare, ensuring to engage with the followers and grow the company’s following. I have really enjoyed engaging with the customers and researching ways to drive more traffic to the websites and increase sales through social media platforms.

As well as this, I have been organising photo competitions for our brands as well as for clients, to increase the company awareness and traffic to the website. It was enjoyable to track the success of the competitions and consider how we could increase participation from customers through social media marketing.

As the Christmas period is coming up, I have started to revise last year’s Christmas Marketing Campaign and consider new, innovative ways to increase PurfectlyYappy’s Christmas sales. I have learnt about the different marketing techniques that could be used, such as e-mail marketing, to reach out to the customers and boost sales.

I have learnt about many different aspects of marketing during my time here and I look forward to developing myself further in my role as a marketing executive.
